PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The Dartmouth women's tennis team faced Rhode Island on the second day of the Brown Invite on Saturday. The Big Green won seven matches against the Rams.
Elise Wong and Lauren Han opened the day with the first Dartmouth win in second doubles. The duo won 6-4 over the second doubles team from Rhode Island.
Sam Grosjean and Carolone Lemcke secured the second doubles win for Dartmouth. The duo won 7-6 in a back and forth doubles match.
Wong won her second match of the day as she was slotted in the first singles position. After dropping the opening set 6-3, she responded with a 7-5 win in the second set. In the tiebreaker set, Wong won 10-6 to take the match win.
Grosjean notched her second win of the day as she was in the third singles spot. She won the opening set 6-4 and then secured the match with a 6-1 win in the second set.
Lemecke continued the winning ways for the Big Green as she won her fourth singles match. She won the opening set 6-1 and then closed out the match with a 6-2 win in the second set.
Lexi Dewire played in fifth singles for the Big Green. She won the first set 6-2, after a successful first set she won 6-1 in the second set to secure another win for the Big Green.
Valentina Cruz won the final match of the day for the Big Green as she was in the sixth singles position. Cruz opened the match with a 6-3 win and then secured the match win with a 6-2 win in the second set.
The Big Green are back in action on Sunday as they close out the Brown Classic before opening the Ivy League Individual Tournament on Oct. 25 in Philadelphia, Pa.
