PRINCETON, N.J.—The Dartmouth field hockey team traveled to Princeton on Sunday for an Ivy League matchup. Dartmouth fell 5-1 to the 13th ranked team in country.
Princeton opened the scoring just 2:53 into the game following a penalty corner. The Tigers quickly made it 2-0 at the 4:20 mark of the first quarter.
Dartmouth goalkeeper Kylie McKinley made three saves in the opening quarter.
Princeton was held off the board for nearly the rest of the first half until they scored on a penalty stroke with 1:04 left in the second quarter.
The Big Green held Princeton to two shots on goal in the third quarter and held the Tigers off the score board until there was just 48 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
With 5:02 left in the fourth quarter, Dartmouth scored its first goal of the game. Following a corner, Helen Young scored her first career goal. She found a loose ball following a rebound and buried the ball into the bottom left corner of the cage.
Princeton scored with eight seconds remaining to make it 5-1.
McKinley made a career high seven saves in the loss.
It was the first time since 2012 that Dartmouth has scored a goal on the road at Princeton.
The Big Green close out the 2024 season on Sunday, Nov. 3 as they travel to New York City to take on Columbia at 10 a.m.
