HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth College women's volleyball team fell to Cornell in the Ivy League home opener this evening, 3-2 from Leede Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET ONE:
- The Big Red opened to a 15-8 lead but an 8-2 run by the Big Green brought the gap to one, 17-16 Cornell, and a Big Red timeout.
- A kill by Kauany Gutz and Emma Symon and three errors from Cornell gave Dartmouth a 22-21 lead.
- The final three points of the set went to Dartmouth on kills by Maddie LaFata and Piper Stevens, set Big Green, 25-22.
SET TWO:
- The teams exchanged runs to open the second set until Dartmouth blew open their lead to 18-10 with two kills from LaFata and three from Stevens.
- The final six of eight scores went to Dartmouth to take the set, 25-16.
SET THREE:
- The Big Red came out hot and quickly took a commanding 9-1 lead, forcing a Dartmouth timeout.
- Two kills and two Cornell errors brought the Big Green within two, 17-15 to then force a Big Red timeout.
- Dartmouth again closed the gap to just one, 20-19, leading to another Cornell time out.
- Cornell was able to end the set on an ace, 25-20.
SET FOUR:
- The teams went back and forth until Cornell took a three-point lead, 12-9.
- A 7-2 run by the Big Green led by five kills put Dartmouth out front, 16-14.
- Cornell was able to come back and tie the set at 20-20, and eventually won the set, 25-21.
SET FIVE:
- Both teams exchanged two point runs until Cornell had four straight to get in front 6-4.
- Dartmouth scored four of their own to take an 8-6 lead.
- Faced with set point, Cornell notched four, evening the score 14-14. Scoring the next two, Cornell took the set, 16-14.
