HANOVER/LYME, N.H. — The Big Green ski team wrapped up the Dartmouth Carnival on Saturday by finishing in second place with 794 points. The Dartmouth men's Nordic team highlighted the day, racking up the most points in the 15k classic mass start — with Big Green skiers placing third, fourth, sixth and ninth. One week after winning the men's slalom at the Harvard Carnival, sophomore
Dan Gillis placed third in the same event at the Dartmouth Skiway.
The Big Green only trailed Vermont (948 points) and were 98 points ahead of New Hampshire in third (696 points). Dartmouth's strong weekend came with seven Nordic skiers in Slovenia for the U20 and U23 World Championships.
On Saturday, the men's Nordic ski team saw fifth-year
Cameron Wolfe reach the podium with a third-place finish in the 15k classic mass start, posting a time of 41:28.6. He was followed by teammate sophomore
Cooper Camp in fourth (41:43.4). Rounding out Big Green in the top 10 for the Nordic men were first-year
Dustin Hay in sixth (42:10.0) and junior
Asa Chalmers in ninth (42:22.2). Twenty percent into the race, Wolfe stood in 14th place while Camp was 18th and Hay 20th, with all making pushes from that point forward. Wolfe's split of 8:11.5 over the second 3.3 km was first, while his next 3.3 km was second best.
Junior
Tatum Witter paced the Big Green Nordic women, coming in fifth in the 15k classic mass start with a time of 53:20.7. Her splits over the final two 3.3 km segments were both third-fastest, helping her move from eighth at 9.9 km into the top five. Meanwhile, junior
Emma Reeder (55:02.2) and sophomore
Amelia Tucker (55:08.1) finished 12th and 14th, respectively.
Over at the Dartmouth Skiway, Gillis placed third in the slalom, posting a combined time of 1:42.72 over the two runs. Senior
Max Martin also came in the top 10, coming in seventh (1:43.46).
The top finishers in the women's slalom were junior
Allie Resnick and sophomore
Zoe Zimmermann, placing fifth and sixth with total times of 1:42.82 and 1:42.92. Resnick's time of 49.93 in her first run was second fastest.
The Big Green return to action next weekend, traveling to the Williams Carnival on Friday and Saturday.
