WOODFORD, Vt. / HANCOCK, Mass. — The Dartmouth ski team wrapped up the first day of the Williams Carnival in first place, highlighted by junior
Allie Resnick and first-year
Izzy Washburn finishing first and second in the women's giant slalom. The victory for Resnick marked her third of the season after capturing both the giant slalom and slalom at the season-opening Colby Carnival.
The Big Green finished Friday with 425 points, ahead of Vermont in second with 406.5. Along with the giant slalom success, Dartmouth's men's Nordic team came in first. In the 11k classic,
Jack Lange placed third with a time of 32:01.0. A third into the race, he was eighth, but had the third-best split over the next 3.75k then second-best over the final 3.75. Fifth year
Cameron Wolfe followed his first-career podium finish last weekend by placing fifth (32:20.0).
Junior
Emma Reeder paced Dartmouth's Nordic women's team in the 11k classic, placing third with a time of 37:07.5. Junior
Tatum Witter also finished in the top 10, posting a time of 37:24.4. As a team, the Big Green Nordic women garnered the second-most points on day one.
The story of Friday was the giant slalom where Resnick won the event with a combined time of 1:37.40. Her first run of 50.77 was ninth best, but her second run of 46.63 seconds was tops by a significant margin, more than a half second fast than anyone else. Meanwhile, Washburn's total time of 137.74 was good for silver.
On the men's side, sophomore
Oscar Zimmer was Dartmouth's top finisher in the giant slalom, coming in ninth with a total time of 1:35.29.
The Big Green will wrap up the Williams Carnival on Saturday.
