BACK AT HOME
The Dartmouth men's hockey team returns to Thompson Arena this weekend for a pair of ECAC Hockey matchups. The Big Green take on Clarkson on Friday evening for Go Green Night presented by Casella, followed by a Saturday tilt against St. Lawrence for Youth Hockey Day presented by Cardigan Mountain School.
ANOTHER OVERTIME GAME
Playing against Harvard last Friday for its lone game of the weekend, Dartmouth went to overtime for the 10
th time this season after playing to a 5-5 tie in regulation.
Facing a 4-1 deficit early in the second period, the Big Green stormed back to tie the game going into the third period of play. After Harvard scored early in the third to take a 5-4 lead, Dartmouth tied the game once again late in the period, ultimately sending the game to overtime. The Crimson claimed the extra point in the standings after winning the seven-round shootout, 2-1.
Cam MacDonald tallied his first two goals of the year.
Cooper Flinton finished the night with three points after scoring one goal and assisting on two.
Luke Haymes and
Sean Chisholm also lit the lamp while
Tucker McRae and
Nikita Nikora both chipped in two assists.
PLAYOFF SEEDING UP FOR GRABS
Six games remain in the regular season and hosting rights for the first round are there for the taking. The Big Green are tied for eighth on points with 20 but currently sit in ninth due to Brown holding the tiebreaker over Dartmouth. Union sits in fifth, just five points ahead of the Big Green. St. Lawrence and Yale occupy spots six and seven with 23 points.
Over the course of the final six games, five of the six opponents for Dartmouth are currently above them in the standings, while Rensselaer trails by just three points.
SCOUTING CLARKSON
Clarkson is currently 14-13-1 overall with an 8-7-1 ECAC Hockey record. The Golden Knights are coming off a split weekend with a win over Princeton (4-2) and a defeat to Quinnipiac (2-4).
Ayrton Martino leads the team in scoring with 20 points (7-13-20) and his 13 assists are a team-high. Eric Ciccolini and Ryan Taylor each have eight goals this season for the Golden Knights.
Austin Roden has played 19 games in goal for Clarkson this season. He boasts a .902 save percentage, 423 saves and has a goals against average of 2.49.
The Big Green are 32-77-9 all-time against the Golden Knights. The two teams skated to a 2-2 tie back in early December with Clarkson winning the shootout. Dartmouth is looking for its first win against Clarkson since a 3-2 victory at Thompson Arena on January 20, 2020.
SCOUTING ST. LAWRENCE
St. Lawrence enters the weekend with a 9-16-3, 7-8-1 record and will play Harvard on Friday evening. The Saints had a split weekend in their previous outing, defeating No. 5 Quinnipiac (3-1) before falling to Princeton (5-4) in overtime.
Felikss Gavars leads St. Lawrence in goals thus far with 10. Mason Waite has a team-high 13 assists while Tomáš Mazura and Justin Paul are also in double figures with 11 and 10, respectively. Waite leads the team in blocks with 35 followed by Luc Salem in second with 33.
Ben Kraws has played in 27 games for the Saints this season and has made 738 saves with a .913 save percentage and a 2.62 goals against average.
Philippe Chapleau was named the ECAC Hockey Defender of the Week on Monday after playing a key role in the Saints' victory over the Bobcats. Chapleau scored two goals in the third period to give St. Lawrence the lead for good.
The Big Green are 45-66-4 all-time against the Saints. St. Lawrence won the matchup in Canton earlier this season by a score of 3-1. Dartmouth is looking to earn its first win over St. Lawrence since a 3-2 victory at Appleton on Nov. 12, 2021, and the first home win against them since a 3-1 win on Jan. 18, 2020.

Dartmouth plays its final road games of the regular season next weekend at Rensselaer and Union. Puck drop against the Engineers is scheduled for next Friday at 7 p.m. while the contest against the Garnet Chargers the following day is slated for 4 p.m. Both games will be available to stream on ESPN+ and Stretch Internet.
