A late goal from Eric Charpentier sent the game to overtime

HANOVER, N.H. – Special teams played a key role in the ECAC Hockey contest between the Dartmouth men's hockey team and St. Lawrence on Saturday as both teams scored three power play goals. The game finished 4-4 and will go down in the records as a tie, but the Big Green won the shootout to claim the coveted extra point in the league standings.
Braiden Dorfman and Cooper Flinton each netted in the shootout with Flinton's being the winner, while Cooper Black stopped five of the six shots he faced. Black ended the 65 minutes of play with 27 saves.
Dartmouth moves to 7-9-9, 5-6-7 while St. Lawrence is now 9-17-4, 7-9-2.
St. Lawrence took a 4-3 lead midway through the third with a power play goal through Jan Lasak. With the clock running down, Eric Charpentier scored his second goal of the season to tie the game at 4-4, ultimately sending it to overtime.
The Saints scored their second power play goal of the game inside the first minute of the third period when Mason Waite dove to make contact with the puck in front of goal, directing it into the back of the net, tying it at 3-3.
Facing a 2-1 deficit midway through the second period, the Big Green went on the power play for five minutes after St. Lawrence was handed a major penalty for boarding. Dartmouth took advantage of the man-up opportunity, scoring twice on the power play.
Sean Chisholm scored the first of the two goals, with his shot coming from the point and tucking inside the top left corner for his fifth goal of the season. Just a minute later, John Fusco scored from the point for his fourth tally of the year, giving Dartmouth its first lead of the night and its third power play goal of the game.
St. Lawrence opened the scoring for the night midway through the first period when Jan Olenginski lit the lamp. The Big Green tied it up with under a minute remaining in the opening period when Luke Haymes scored on the power play, his 14th goal of the season.
Dartmouth hits to the Albany area next weekend for the final road games of the regular season, taking on Rensselaer and Union in ECAC Hockey action. Friday's game against the Engineers is scheduled for 7 p.m. while Saturday's game against the Garnet Chargers is slated for 4 p.m. Both games will be available to stream on ESPN+ and Stretch Internet.
