TROY, N.Y. – Cooper Flinton finished with four points after scoring two goals to go with two assists as the Dartmouth men's hockey team earned a 5-1 victory over Rensselaer in ECAC Hockey action on Friday evening at the Houston Field House.
Cooper Black made 26 saves to pick up his eighth win of the year while
Luke Haymes finished the night with three points.
Dartmouth improves to 8-9-9, 6-6-7 while RPI drops 9-19-3, 6-11-2.

Heading into the third with a 2-1 lead, the Big Green tallied three goals in the final frame to push it to 5-1. Haymes opened the scoring early in the third on the power play after following up on a saved shot by Flinton from close range.
Eric Charpentier joined in on the scoring moments later when he ripped a shot to the top corner for his third tally of the season.
Sandwiched between the goals from Haymes and Charpentier was an unbelievable save by Black from close range. RPI's John Beaton looked to have cut the Big Green lead to one, but Black made the full extension save and keep the puck out of the net.
Flinton added his second goal of the night with an unassisted empty-net goal in the final few minutes.
The Big Green scored twice during the opening 20 minutes. The first goal of the night came quickly after the opening puck drop as
Tucker McRae found the back of the net just 12 seconds into the contest.
Luke Haymes won the faceoff and Flinton passed the puck out to McRae for the shot from the point.
Dartmouth went on a five-minute power play late in the first period after RPI's Jakob Lee was given a major for elbowing. The Big Green wasted no time on the ensuing faceoff, as Haymes won it and
CJ Foley passed it right away to Flinton for the quick shot past Engineers goaltender Jack Watson for his 11
th goal of the season.
RPI scored a power play goal of its own early in the second period when Jimmy Goffredo scored from the point during the 5v4 advantage after the Big Green were given two minutes for a penalty.
The Big Green outshot the Engineers, 32-27, and also won the faceoff battle, 31-30. The defense combined to block 15 shots.
Dartmouth plays at Union tomorrow afternoon for the final road game of the regular season for the Big Green. Puck drop is scheduled for 4 p.m. and the game will be available to stream nationally on ESPN+ and internationally on Stretch Internet.
