PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – After three weeks off, the No. 9 Dartmouth men's squash team returned to action Thursday to face No. 8 Drexel in the College Squash Association National Collegiate Team Championships Round of 16, playing for the Potter Cup.
The Dragons dominated the Big Green, sweeping the match 9-0 and only allowing a single game win all day. The Dragons will move on to face No. 1 Trinity on Friday who received a bye in the first round.
The Big Green's sole game victory came courtesy of junior
Christian Shah at the second position. Shah and Drexel's Youssef Bastawy battled in the first game, going into extra points. While Bastawy was able to take the first game, 13-11, Shah battled back in the second game to secure the 11-8 victory and tie the match, but Bastawy won the third game to take the lead. Unfortunately for the Big Green, the match did not finish, granting Bastawy the win.
Quintin Campbell came close to picking up a win in the final game of his match at the fifth position, forcing the game to extra points, but fell 10-12 to lose the match, 3-0.
In addition to the second position match not finishing, both the match at the sixth and seventh position did not finish, granting Drexel the victory as they were leading the match.
The Big Green will play Tufts tomorrow at 11 a.m.
