CRAFTSBURY, VT. — The Dartmouth ski team wrapped up the Harvard Carnival on Sunday with a strong showing in the giant slalom. Originally scheduled for Friday, it had been postponed due to fog. The Big Green men's alpine team took first as a group with 99 points, with three finishers in the top 10 of the giant slalom.
Rounding out the Harvard Carnival, Dartmouth came in second out of 14 teams with 756 points, only behind Vermont's 859.5. For the men's giant slalom, the Big Green's 99 points led the way, followed by Colby College with 94 points. The Dartmouth women's alpine team placed third in Sunday's giant slalom.
Sophomore
Oscar Zimmer was the Big Green's top finisher on the men's side with a combined time of 2:05.66 over the two runs, good for seventh. He was followed by seniors
Preston O'Brien and
Max Martin in eighth and ninth, with total times of 2:05.75 and 2:06.25, respectively.
Two from Dartmouth finished in the top 10 of the women's slalom. Senior
Olivia Holm was eighth (2:12.87) while sophomore
Riley Grosdidier finished 10th (2:13.02). It marked Holm's second top 10 finish of the carnival, after also placing ninth in Saturday's slalom.
The Big Green return to action this coming weekend when they host the Dartmouth Carnival on Friday and Saturday. There will also be an NCAA Qualifier for the giant slalom on Thursday.
