HANOVER, N.H. – The Big Green opened their spring season with three regattas this past weekend, competing at the Thames River Team Race, the Harvard Women's Team Race, and the McMerrick Cup Team Race.
The Big Green collected top five finishes at two races, including a second-place finish at the McMerrick Cup and a fourth place finish at the Harvard Women's Team Race.
At the McMerrick Cup, Dartmouth went 4-1 on the day, losing only the first race it sailed against Brown, the eventual winners. The Big Green travelled skippers

Ryan Satterberg, and Ben Sheppard, and crews
Phoebe Lee,
Sophie Menyhart, and
Vivian Heitkoetter. Two of their wins were thanks to first, second, and third finishing positions, while the other two came courtesy of first, second and fifth finishing positions.
The Big Green were middle of the pack on Sunday at the Harvard Women's Team Race. After not competing on Saturday due to light conditions, the Big Green went 4-3 on Sunday, placing fourth overall.

Elise Donovan, and
Lilly Baker competed at Harvard, combining for two wins with first, second, and fourth finishing positions. The Big Green also won a race in which they placed first, second and fifth, and in the middle of the pack at second, third, and fourth.
Two of the Big Green's losses came against Boston College and Yale, the regatta's first place and second place winners.
Dartmouth posted a 3-3 record at the Thames River Team Race, finishing fourth overall. The Big Green's three losses came from the teams that finished above them in the final standings. Skippers Ava Hurwitz, Ryan Satterberg, and Ben Sheppard and crews Phoebe Lee, Sophie Menyhart, and Vivian Heitkoetter had a first place finishing positions in all three wins, also collecting two second position finishes and two fourth position finishes.
The Big Green will continue their spring season in just over two weeks when they travel to Virginia for the Szambecki Team Race, Boston for the Boston University Team Race, and Maryland for the Seahawk Women's Team Race.
