HANOVER, N.H. – On Tuesday, the Inter-collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) announced the selections for the College Sailing Open and Women's Team Race National Championships. Dartmouth was selected by the committee to both championships.
The Open Team Race National Championship will be held April 25 through the 27 and is hosted by Harvard and MIT. The women's championship is scheduled for immediately after, hosted by Harvard and MIT on April 28 and 29.
Last year, the open and women's championships were held in Kings Point, New York at the end of May. In the Open Championship, the Big Green sailed to a fourth-place finish, their best since 2019.
At the Women's Championship which was held before the Open Championship, low winds canceled the second day of the regatta, leaving the Big Green with a seventh-place finish. Following the regatta though,
Maddie Hawkins was named an ICSA All-American.
The Big Green will return to the water this weekend to sail in their final three regattas before the ICSA championships. They will travel to Brown for the Open New England Fleet Race Championship, Bowdoin for the New England Women's Fleet Race Championship, and UNH for the Mendum's Pond Fleet Race.
In addition to sailing at the Open Team Race Nationals the following weekend, the Big Green will also send a team to the Little 3 regatta hosted by Middlebury.
