CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Big Green Sailing team competed in the first day of the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Open Team Race National Championship Thursday, being met with challenging winds on the Charles River.

The Big Green sent Skippers
Boyd Bragg,
James Paul,
Ryan Satterberg, and
Maddie Hawkins and Crews
Yumi Yoshiyasu,
Reese Bragg, and
Lilly Baker on the water. They were only able to complete four races, posting a 2-2 record and closing the first day of the national championship in a three-way tie for seventh place. Fellow Ivy League's Harvard and Yale each won all four of their races, sitting in a tie for first place.

To start the Round of 16 yesterday, the Big Green faced Yale, Brown, Charleston, and Wisconsin. The Big Green picked up a first-place finishing position against Yale but ended up losing the race. They then picked up second, fourth and fifth finishing positions against Brown but were unable to collect the win.

Dartmouth was able to collect wins against Charleston and Wisconsin. A first, second, and fourth place finishing position secured the win against the Cougars while the Big Green swept the top three finishing positions against the Badgers to secure a 2-2 record and a tie in the standings.

The Big Green will return to the water today to wrap up the Round of 16 and depending on their finishing positions, will then race in the Final 8 and the Final 4.
