CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Big Green wrapped up competing at the Intercollegiate Sailing Association Open Team Race National Championship Saturday, finishing sixth overall with a 12-10 record.
After posting an 11-4 record in the Round of 16 Thursday and into Friday, the Big Green qualified for the Round of 8 which started sailing on Friday. They sailed two races on Friday, posting an 0-2 record, but could still qualify for the Round of 4 depending on their race results.
On Saturday, the Big Green were only able to pick up one win against Coast Guard, collecting first, fourth, and fifth place finishing positions, identical marks to their Round of 16 win against the Bears.
The Big Green also collected a first place finishing position against Yale, but were unable to collect the individual race win, going 1-6 in the Round of 8 for a sixth place finish.
Roger Williams won the Open Team Race National Championship, beating Harvard by half a win due to a penalty. Fellow Ivy Leagues Harvard, Yale, and Brown finished second through fourth, followed by Stanford who the Big Green beat in the Round of 16, sweeping the top three finishing positions.
Dartmouth will continue its national championship racing tomorrow when the ICSA Women's Team Race Nationals begin on the Charles River. The Big Green also competed at the Little 3 regatta hosted by Middlebury Saturday. A full recap highlighting the Big Green's performance will be available on Monday.
