CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – On Sunday, the women's sailing team competed in the first day of the Intercollegiate Sailing Association's Women's Team Race National Championship, posting an 8-3 overall record, good for third place heading into day two of racing on Monday.

Yumi Yoshiyasu competed in 11 races Sunday. The Big Green collected first place finishing positions in all eight races they won.
Dartmouth collected wins against Yale, Charleston, Penn, Harvard, Brown, MIT, Tulane, and Wisconsin in Round 1, earning redemption against teams like Yale and Brown in which the Big Green dropped races to in the Open Team Race National Championship held Thursday through Saturday.
Against MIT and Wisconsin, the Big Green swept the top three finishing positions for the win. In four of their wins, they took both the first and second finishing positions and in the remaining two, had the first and third finishing positions to secure wins.
The Big Green dropped their races against Stanford, Boston College, and Cornell, finishing all races with third, fourth, and sixth finishing positions.
With the 8-3 record in Round 1 and currently in third place, the Big Green have secured their spot in the Round of 6 to be sailed on Monday. The Big Green are joined in the top 6 by Stanford, Boston College, Harvard, Yale, and Penn.
Also on the schedule this past weekend for the Big Green was the Little 3 regatta hosted by Middlebury. Despite challenging, strong and consistent winds, the Big Green placed second overall with 20 points, only six points behind the first-place team and ten points above the third-place team.
In the A Division, the Big Green got out to a slow start, posting six points for fifth overall. They had a bounce back, dominant performance in the B Division though, posting four points to win the division and secure the second-place finish.
After the Big Green wrap up sailing today at Women's Team Race Nationals, they will have about a month off before returning to national competition and the Charles River. On May 20, the Big Green will compete in the ICSA Women's Fleet Race National Championship, immediately followed by the Open Fleet Race Nationals.
