HANOVER, N.H. — After claiming the series opener on Saturday behind a historic performance by first-year pitcher Jensin Hall, the Dartmouth softball team sealed a series win over Brown with a 5-0 win in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader before falling 12-9 in the high-scoring nightcap at Dartmouth Softball Park.

The Big Green turned to Rachel McCarroll in the circle for the opening game of Sunday's doubleheader and the junior turned in a complete-game shutout, limiting Brown to five hits while recording a season-high six strikeouts. McCarroll went on to pitch the entirety of the second game as well, and despite the Bears plating 12 runs, only four were earned.

GAME 1 • Dartmouth 5, Brown 0
Early runs supported McCarroll as the Big Green put up one in the first and two in the second, before pushing across a pair of insurance runs in the fifth. Allie Ohde's sacrifice fly handed Dartmouth a 1-0 lead a half inning after McCarroll left a pair of Brown baserunners stranded. A couple manufactured run an inning later, aided by Cwen Wilson's one-out double, had the Big Green leading 3-0. Ashley Frantz led off the fifth with a triple and scored Mary Beth Cahalan's single. Cahalan later scored on Ohde's two-out double – good for her second RBI of the afternoon.

Ohde was the 2-for-2 at the plate, helping lead the Big Green to six total hits. Brown's five hits came from five different batters. Marcy Borowski took the loss in the circle, having pitched the game's first five innings.

After allowing a leadoff double to start the game, and a walk shortly after, McCarroll settled in to retire eight of nine in a stretch that spanned the middle of the first to the end of the third. Brown's first two batters in the fourth inning reached base, but McCarroll again came away unscathed. The Bears were hitless in eight opportunities with runners in scoring position.

GAME 2 • Brown 12, Dartmouth 9
The Big Green brought a 9-8 lead into the seventh inning, but were unable to hang on as Jasmine Hsaio launched a go-ahead three-run home run with two outs in the final inning.

Totaling 10 hits, the Big Green were led by Justice Malone, who went 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Alaana Panu also turned in a strong performance at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double. Senior Kelly Beaupre chipped in for Dartmouth as well with her second-inning RBI double.

The Big Green were trailing 1-0 in the first inning when they first put runs on the board. Dartmouth's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a two-run single off the bat of Malone.

The Bears then rallied to score five runs and take a 6-4 lead before the Big Green got back on the board in the second. Dartmouth pushed across a run on Beaupre's two-out RBI double, which brought the score to 6-5 in favor of the Bears.

Dartmouth kept the Bears off the scoreboard before rallying to snatch an 8-6 lead in the third. The Big Green scored three runs in the frame, two of them coming across on a two-run single off the bat of Malone.

The Bears then tied up the game at eight before Dartmouth came back to reclaim their advantage in the sixth inning. Cahalan crossed the plate with the lone run of the inning for the Big Green as Olivia Schramm reached on an error, giving Dartmouth a 9-8 lead before the Bears rallied in the seventh.
