HANOVER, N.H. —
Logan Pack and
Emma Gao, both first-year Big Green swimmers, will compete in the upcoming Canadian Olympic Trials in Toronto. Pack will appear in the 100 back, 100 free and 50 free. Gao will swim the 100 free and the 50 free.
Pack finished his first collegiate season with 10 top-10 times in program history to his credit. Most recently, he helped the team to a strong finish at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship with a program record in the 400 free relay. The Katy, Texas native swam the fourth-fastest 100 back time in program history (48.83) during the 2024 Ivy League Championships, and also came away with top-10 times in both the 50 free and the 100 free. Pack was victorious in the 100 back during the Tate Ramsden Invitational with a 49.50, a season-best at the time.
Gao, a native of Ontario, recorded several personal best yard times during her first season with the Big Green, including the 100 free during the Miami Invitational. She also won the won the 50 free during Dartmouth's dual meet against Bates.
Both needed to achieve qualifying times in each event in order to secure a spot in this week's trials. Pack swam a 58.68 in the 100 back during the Texas Senior Circuit in June of 2023, a 51.78 in the 100 free CSCAA National Invitational Championship this past March and a 23.85 in the 50 free in the Speedo USA Junior National Championships last August.
Gao swam a 57.23 in the 100 free during the Summer Ontario Championships in July of 2023 and in the 50 free, turned in a time of 26.78 during the Ontario Winter Championships in March of 2023.
The trials run May 13-19 and the top two swimmers in each event will earn automatic qualification to the national team as long as they're under the Olympic qualifying time. The top four finishers in the 100 free will also qualify for relay purposes.
