HOUSTON — The Dartmouth rugby team was unbeaten through its first four matches of pool play at the CRAA 7s Nationals in Houston, but was sunk by an overtime Lindenwood try in the semifinal.
Dartmouth was 3-0 on Friday, including a 46-0 rout of Ivy foe Princeton, on Friday before winning its final match of pool play over Davenport on Saturday morning. The weekend opened with a 22-5 victory over Life and the Big Green's momentum continued with a 24-5 triumph over Central Washington before the 46-point onslaught in the nightcap.
Paola Arredondo Almeida, who scored three tries against Life, was key in the 20-7 win over Davenport with two scores. Against Lindenwood, tries from Cindy Taulva,
Abby Kayser and
Hann Humphreys were not enough in a 24-19 defeat.
Saturday marked the end of Dartmouth's 7s season as the Big Green shift their focus to the 2024 15s campaign, and eye a fourth straight trip to the NIRA Championship.
