HANOVER, N.H. – On Tuesday, Head Coach of Women's Ice Hockey Maura Crowell announced current Assistant Coach
Ben Lovejoy will transition into a Director of Player Development role for the 2024-25 season.
"As an Upper Valley native, Dartmouth Hockey has been a part of Ben's life since he was a boy cheering on the teams in Thompson Arena. He played his collegiate years for the Big Green and eventually became a Stanley Cup Champion," Crowell said. "His passion for Dartmouth and his expertise in hockey make him the perfect fit for our staff."
As the Director of Player Development, Lovejoy will work closely with Crowell and the rest the women's hockey staff to provide "the best individual and collective development plans."
Lovejoy, who graduated from Dartmouth in 2006, began a 13-year playing career in the National Hockey League in 2008, suiting up for five different teams, including two stints with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
During his second stint with the Penguins for the 2015-16 season, Lovejoy played in 66 games, netting four goals and adding six assists en route to hoisting the Stanley Cup.
Lovejoy finished his NHL career having played in 544 games, collecting 101 points and posting a +51 plus/minus.
