Kauany Gutz and
Piper Stevens combined for 37.5 points as the Dartmouth College women's volleyball team defeated the University at Albany, 3-2, after forcing a fifth set and winning it in comeback fashion.

Gutz recorded her third double double on the season with 19 kills and 15 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET ONE:
- The first set saw 11 ties until the score was 16-16.
- Dartmouth went on a 5-2 run with two kills from Gutz and one from Ava Roberts to open the score 21-18.
- The Big Green closed out the set with three straight points, 25-21.
SET TWO:
- The Great Danes jumped out to a quick 7-3 lead and eventually a 13-8 lead.
- With UAlbany leading 23-18, Dartmouth went on a 6-1 run, tying the score 24-24. The run included kills from four separate hitters and an ace from Tasman Mullins.
- UAlbany scored the next two points to take the set 26-24.
SET THREE:
- UAlbany opened the set with four unanswered points and continued the dominance throughout.
- Dartmouth took their only lead of the set, 8-7, when they had four consecutive points of their own off a kill from Gutz and errors from the Great Danes. Â
- UAlbany took back control and held it until the end, winning the set, 25-19.
SET FOUR:
- Dartmouth started the set with a dominant 11-4 run.
- A 9-1 Dartmouth run opened the Big Green lead to 21-7.
- The Big Green scored four of the last five points on two kills from Gutz, a kill from Maddie LaFata and an ace from Sophia Gagnepain, taking the set, 25-10.
SET FIVE:
- UAlbany stayed in front the majority of the set.
- Dartmouth outscored the Great Danes 10-3 to come back and jumped ahead, 13-10.
- LaFata capped the match with a kill that gave the Big Green the set, 15-12.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Gutz led the Big Green with 19 kills in the match.
- Gagnepain notched three aces.
- Emma Symon had four blocks; nearly half of the teams combined nine.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Mullins had two kills that tied the fifth set on two separate occasions, 8-8 and 10-10.
- This was the second straight match where Dartmouth had forced a fifth set and won it.
