STORRS, Conn. – The Dartmouth women's volleyball team took down Delaware State, 3-0 on Saturday evening from the UConn Volleyball Center.
Maddie LaFata and
Emma Symon both had a .455 hitting percentage for the Big Green.
This is Dartmouth's fourth straight win.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET ONE:
- Delaware State jumped in front to begin the match, but Dartmouth responded and took the lead back thanks to a solo block from LaFata and a kill from Kauany Gutz.
- The Big Green stayed in front, opening up to a 16-10 lead and forcing a Delaware State timeout.
- Dartmouth charged on and took the first set, 25-17. A kill by Symon secured the set.
SET TWO:
- Delaware came out hot in the second set but two straight aces from Emma Engstrom and a kill from LaFata tied the set 4-4.
- Dartmouth broke away once again with two 7-2 runs, 19-12 Big Green.
- The Big Green ended the set with nine unanswered points, 25-12. Of those nine points, Gutz had five, four of which were consecutive kills.
SET THREE:
- The teams traded points until the score was 11-11. The Hornets scored four straight to take a 14-11 lead, forcing a Dartmouth timeout.
- Out of the timeout, Dartmouth tied it up, 14-14.
- The Hornets went on a 5-0 run, giving themselves a 24-21 lead. Faced on set point, Dartmouth went on a 5-1 run, pushing the set to extra points.
- The Big Green closed out the set on two consecutive kills from Lafata and Piper Stevens, 28-26.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Gutz led the Big Green with 14 kills, half of them coming in the second set.
- Tasman Mullins has three aces.
- The final set saw a total of 16 ties, all the way to 26-26.
