HANOVER, N.H. – During the fourth weekend of the fall season, the Big Green made their way to Connecticut and Massachusetts to sail in three regattas.
On the Thames River at Connecticut College,
Sarah Young,
Lilly Baker,
Bella Casaretto,
Faye Benjamin,
Olivia Drulard and
Sudi Zhao competed in the first round of the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship, earning a fifth-place finish.
In the A Division, Young and Baker posted five top five finishes for 66 overall points. The pair earned one first place finishing position in the sixth race.
In the B Division, Casaretto and Benjamin posted 54 points overall, second best in the regatta, helping the Big Green to 120 total points for fifth place.
Casaretto and Benjamin picked up seven top five finishing positions over the 11 races, earning a first place finishing position, and two second place finishes over the final four races.
At the Danmark Trophy hosted by the Coast Guard, the Big Green put up 117 points in the A Division and 48 points in the B Division for 165 points overall and a twelfth-place finish.
The Big Green's 48 B Division points were good for second overall. Half of the races they sailed were top five finishes two second place finishes across the last four races.
In the third regatta of the weekend, Dartmouth sailed to an eighth-place finish at the George Warren Smith Trophy. The Big Green posted 91 points in the A Division and 81 points in the B Division, posting 172 total points.
The A Division started the day with a fourth-place finish, and despite the two divisions falling, slowly climbed their way back to the middle of the pack thanks to four straight top five finishes in the fourth and fifth sets of racing.
The Big Green will return to the water next weekend, kicking off the Open Atlantic Coast Championship and traveling to Connecticut, Maine, and Vermont for the Stu Nelson Women's, Hewitt Trophy, and the Stewart Walker Trophy.
