LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Alpine skiers took to the Giant Slalom at Whiteface Mountain Thursday, opening racing at the St. Lawrence Carnival.
On the men's side,
Benny Brown led the way for the Big Green placing second overall with a combined time of 2:09.98.
Calum Langmuir was right behind, finishing in fifth with a 2:11.11 while
Dan Gillis was only a tenth of a second behind, posting a 2:11.21.
Just outside the top 10 was
Oliver Morgan, posting a 2:11.67, good for 11
th place.
Philip Lundquist (2:13.9) also raced for the Big Green.
The women also had a podium representative.
Allie Resnick led the way posting a 1:06.19 on Run 1 and a 1:09.29 on Run 2 for a combined 2:15.48, good for third place.
Izzy Washburn was not far behind, finishing just over a second behind Resnick for fifth place (2:16.70).
Carly Elsinger rounded out the top 10, posting a 2:17.09.
Emma Reynolds also raced for the Big Green, posting a 2:22.47.
The Big Green will return to Whiteface Mountain Friday, wrapping up alpine competition on the slalom. Nordic skiers will complete their first race at Mt. Van Hoevenberg, racing the 20K Freestyle Friday before closing the St. Lawrence Carnival Saturday with the 7.5K Classic.
