LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Both the Nordic and alpine skiers took to the slopes Friday for the second day of the St. Lawrence Carnival, looking to stay at the top of the leaderboard.
In the 20K Freestyle, the men Nordic skiers were led by
Luke Allan, continuing his success from last week's first and second place finishes at the Bates Carnival. Allan finished first overall, posting a 46:17.90, finishing over 37 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
Aidan Jacobus finished in sixth place, posting a 47:57.90.
Cooper Camp (48:47.40) and
Dustin Hay (48:49.10) finished back-to-back in 12
th and 13
th place.
Asa Chalmers posted a 49:26.40,
Aiden Casey a 50:00.20, and
Aaron Power a 50:26.10 to round out the Big Green finishers.
On the women's side,
Ava Thurston earned her third podium of the season and first of the weekend, finishing second overall in 54:26.80.
Jasmine Drolet and
Maeve Ingelfinger were the next Dartmouth finishers, coming in fifth (54:43.30) and sixth (54:44.00) respectively.
Nina Seemann and
Evie Walton also finished back-to-back, Seemann in ninth (54:59.00) and Walton in tenth (55:00.60).
Tatum Witter was not far behind, coming in 14
th (55:41.90), followed by
Emma Reeder (56:14.90),
Amelia Tucker (56:23.00),
Anja Grover (1:00:40.00),
Grace Zanni (1:00:51.20), and
Virginia Cobb (1:02:31.70).
The Alpine team wrapped up competition at the St. Lawrence Carnival Friday, racing the Slalom.
Louis Latulippe led the way for the Big Green, finishing fourth overall with a 1:34.18.
Dan Gillis was right behind, posting a 1:34.24, good for fifth place. In seventh was
Heming Sola, finishing his two runs in 1:34.28.
Philip Lundquist finished just outside the top 10, coming in 11
th (1:34.62).
Benny Brown (1:34.92) was the other Big Green finisher, coming in 16
th place.
On the women's side,
Zoe Zimmermann took the win, finishing first with a 1:35.40. She also led the way after the first run.
Carly Elsinger was the next member of the Big Green to finish, rounding out the top ten with a 1:38.34.
Izzy Washburn and Noémie Longchamps were right behind, finishing 12
th and 14
th with a 1:38.59 and a 1:38.83 respectively.
Emma Reynolds was the last Big Green finisher in the top 20, posting a 1:38.95.
While alpine competition has concluded, Nordic skiers will return to competition Saturday for the last race of the St. Lawrence Carnival. The Big Green will race the 7.5K Classic and look to secure Dartmouth's second straight carnival victory.
