HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's swimming and diving team enjoyed a stellar effort on Saturday against Cornell and Harvard,  beating the Big Red 161-139 and narrowly falling to the Crimson 163-137.

It was the most points Dartmouth has ever scored against Harvard.

"Our women had multiple lifetime best times, all-time top-10 times, and pool records today which is something I have not seen this team do before in the fall," said head coach
Milana Socha. "When our women get invested in each other and competitive they accomplish pretty exciting things. This meet and win will give us some strong momentum going into the next phase of our training and competing. We definitely have some things to clean up before our midseason invite, so I'll be very excited to see what our women are capable of in 2.5 weeks as they build off their victory."

There were a number of outright event wins, beating anyone from Cornell and Harvard.

Maggie Lambdin won 3-meter diving with a score of 309.15. With that effort, Lambdin qualified for NCAA Diving Zones for a chance to make it to the national championship.

In swimming,
Carinn Bethea was victorious in the 200 freestyle (1:48.82), Bethea in the 50 freestyle (23.58),
Erika Ilkiu in the 200 breastroke (2:16.23) and
Izzy Mundee in the 500 freestyle (4:51.76).

Bethea's 200 freestyle time broke a pool record set eight seasons ago and was only 0.5 seconds off her lifetime best). Mundee's 500 freestyle time was also a pool record.

The Big Green also went 1-2 in the 100 breaststroke with
Kathy Jia (1:03.64) and Ilkiu (1:03.71). Dartmouth's team of
Carinn Bethea,
Samantha Li,
Catherine Ritter and
Lane Murray also won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:33.23. Bethea set lifetime bests in the 50 freestyle twice, first in her individual race then in the lead off for the 200 freestyle relay (23.48).

Dartmouth also picked up wins over Cornell, finishing first through fourth in 3-meter diving, led by Lambdin with a score of 309.15. The Big Green finished first and second in 1-meter diving, with Klara Johnsson Stjernström (247.35) and Lambdin (242.55).

In swimming, the Big Green finished first and second in the 1000 freestyle, with
Izzy Mundee (10:02.23) and
Sydney Rawie (10:16.10). Mundee's time was also a lifetime best. Dartmouth finished first through third in the 500 freestyle, led by Mundee's time of 4:51.76, which was also an outright event victory.

Other lifetime best times included
Sena Bozkurt's 50 back lead-off in the 200 medley relay (26.12),
Ekin Okudur's 200 freestyle (1:53.57) and Okudur's 50 split in the 200 freestyle relay (24.42). Mundee's 50 freestyle split of 23.61 in the same event was also a lifetime best.

The Big Green also had a number of all-time top 10 program performances.
