HANOVER, N.H.—The Dartmouth volleyball team fell in their home finale on Saturday at Leede Arena. The Big Green fell in three sets to Yale.
Set One (L, 25-17)
The opening set saw the Bulldogs take an early 6-2 lead, Yale built a 15-8 lead into the first set media timeout. After the timeout, the Big Green and Yale traded points as Yale maintained its lead late in the set. Yale eventually held off the Big Green and won the set 25-17.
Maddie LaFata led Dartmouth in the opening set with five kills on 10 attacks, Kauany Gutz had three kills in the opening set. Ava Roberts notched a pair of kills while Zori Brown and Elle McCreery each had a kill. The Big Green had two blocks in the set, McCreery, Gutz, LaFata, and Raeli Smith each had a block assist in the opening set. 10 different members of the Big Green had a dig while Julia Gojcaj, Brown, and Gutz each had a team high three digs in the first set.
Set Two (L, 25-11)
The Big Green and Yale traded the first four points of the second set before the Bulldogs took a 7-3 lead. Yale continued to build the lead as it was 15-8 at the media timeout. Yale took a 21-10 lead which led to a Dartmouth timeout. Out of the timeout, Dartmouth looked to extend the set but Yale took four of the next five points to win the set.
Gutz notched a team high three kills in the set while LaFata had a pair, both Brown and Smith added a kill for Dartmouth. The trio of EllaMae Fitzgerald, Sophia Gagnepain, and Gutz, each had three digs in the set while seven members of the Big Green had digs. Roberts had a solo block in the set while the duo of LaFata and McCreery teamed up for a block.
Set Three (25-20)
The third set saw eight lead changes and 14 ties and it started right from the start, teams were tied at 15 after the first 30 points of the set. The back and forth play continued as Yale called a timeout as the Big Green took a 20-19 lead. After the timeout, the Bulldogs took a 23-20 lead, leading to a Dartmouth timeout. Yale took the next two points to close out the set.
LaFata hit .444 in the set as she had five kills on nine attacks, Gutz, Brown, McCreery, and Roberts each had two kills in the set. Gagnepain had six assists in the set while Ellie Mattox had five for the Big Green. The pair of Molly Power and LaFata teamed up for the lone block in the set.
Prior to the match the Big Green honored Emma Symon, Gutz, Power, and Roberts as they played in their final match at Leede Arena. The group combined for 13 kills in the match.
Gutz led the way with 12 digs along with eight kills. LaFata had a team high 12 kills as she hit .345 on the match. Gagnepain had a team best 13 assists while Mattox turned in 12 assists.
The Big Green close out the 2025 season with a pair of road matches starting on Friday, Nov. 14 at Penn at 7 PM. Dartmouth closes the season against Princeton on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 5 PM.
