AMHERST, Mass. - The Dartmouth men's and women's track and field teams saw another weekend of split-squad action, with athletes competing in the Friar Invitational on Friday and at the UMass Commonwealth Invitational on Sunday.
"I was pleased with the way the team handled the schedule change for this weekend. There's always a little bit of volatility during the outdoor season. We were able to get in the meet at Providence on Friday evening despite the weather conditions," Marjorie & Herbert Chase '30 Director of Dartmouth Track & Field and Cross Country
Mike Nelson said. "Saturday's meet at UMass got moved to Sunday, and everyone did a great job with that pivot."
Friday, April 11 - Friar Invitational
J'Voughnn Blake opened the weekend by winning the men's 800m invitational with his 1:50.08 finish, trailed by DJ Matusz, who placed third in the event. Albert Velikonja ran a 4:02.7 in the men's mile, putting him in second place.

Veronika Simova finished in fourth place in the 400m with a 57.39 finish, while Daniela Ruelas Lomeli placed fifth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:04.49.

"Learning to adapt and roll with the punches is vital as you prepare for the championship portion of the season. We had several great performances at the meets, and training has been going well. We look forward to our meet next weekend at UConn. Go Big Green!" Nelson said.
The Big Green will continue their outdoor season next weekend with another set of split-squad meets. Some athletes will compete in the Sean Collier Invitational on Friday, while others will compete in the UConn Northeast Challenge on Friday and Saturday.
