Rugby Brings Home Championship To Open 7s

PRINCETON, N.J.—The Dartmouth women's rugby opened 7s season on Sunday in Princeton, N.J. The Big Green won three matches enroute to winning the Emperor 7s Championship.

The Big Green opened the day against West Chester who made the DII NIRA Semifinals in the fall in 15s. Dartmouth started the day with a 24-7 win over the Golden Rams to start 1-0.

The second game of the day came against Ivy League rival Princeton. Dartmouth downed the Tigers 24-5 to advance to the championship against long time rival Harvard.

Dartmouth the Crimson squared off in the highly anticipated championship match. The Big Green took a 15-0 lead going into the final minute of play. Harvard got on the board in the final 30 seconds and hit the conversion to cut the Dartmouth lead to 15-7.

It is the first time that Dartmouth has competed in the Emperor 7s tournament at Princeton.

The Big Green are back on pitch in Cambridge on Saturday, April 19 for the Ivy League Championships.
