Four Men's Tennis Players Earn CSC All-District Honors

AUSTIN, Texas-- College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced the Academic All-District teams for men's tennis on Tuesday. Carlos Guerrero Alvarez, Miles Groom, Waleed Qadir, and Henry Ren all earned All-District honors.

Student-athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, be a sophomore, junior, or senior, and must have played in 70 percent of team scored matches while also being in good academic standing.

Groom, Qadir, and Ren all earned All-District for the second straight year.

Guerrero Alvarez was the main first singles player for the Big Green this season while having a 7-12 record. He won a pair of matches in doubles as a senior. He finished his career with 106 wins

Groom brought energy to every court he stepped onto in his junior season as he won a team best 13 singles matches. He finished with a 13-5 record which included a 2-0 record I third singles, a 6-5 record in fourth singles, and a perfect 5-0 record in sixth singles. Along with his 13 singles wins, he went 10-8 in doubles.

Qadir turned in a 5-1 record in singles as a junior while also winning three matches in first doubles for the Big Green.

Ren won 12 singles matches in his junior season with 10 of the wins coming in second singles. He also won 11 doubles matches with 10 of them coming in second doubles.
