HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth women's soccer team fell 2-1 to Colgate on Thursday evening at Burnham Field, marking its second loss of the season.
Colgate wasted no time, taking the lead with a goal from Ari Bezanson only one minute and 18 seconds after kickoff. In the 26th minute, Kate Ryan connected with Stephanie Lathrop to even the score at 1-1. In the first half, the Big Green outshot the Raiders 11-4.
Entering the second half, the Big Green had an offensive spark, outshooting the Raiders 9-3. Despite Dartmouth's efforts, Colgate took a lead it wouldn't surrender with a goal from Lydia Thornton, assisted by Josey Tunnie in the 78th minute.
"We've got to put our chances away, but it's a lesson to be learned," Taylor Schram, the Stacy Branca '94 Head Coach of Women's Soccer, said. "I think that we showed a lot of who we are in the second half."
The Big Green will open a three-game road trip on Sunday by traveling to face Hofstra at 1 p.m. in Hempstead, N.Y.
