Brandon Mitchell-Day led the way with his fifth double-double of the season
HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men's basketball team staged a 15-1 run to trim a 17-point deficit down to three with more than two minutes still remaining, but Columbia responded with the game's final seven points to defeat the Big Green, 79-69 on Saturday afternoon. Brandon Mitchell-Day led the offense with 20 points and 11 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season, but it wasn't enough.

Three other Big Green finished with double-figure points: Connor Amundsen (13), Jackson Munro (13) and Kareem Thomas (11). Kenny Noland led Columbia with 28 points.

With the loss, Dartmouth falls to 9-9 on the season and 3-2 in the Ivy League. Columbia improves to 13-6 and 2-3.

FIRST HALF:
Neither team led by more than a possession until a 3-pointer from Hampton Sanders gave the Lions a 16-11 lead with 12:47 on the clock.
A Blair Thompson trey made it a 9-0 Columbia run and 19-11 advantage.
The Big Green responded with a 9-0 run of their own, capped off by consecutive dunks from Mitchell-Day and Munro, giving Dartmouth a 20-19 lead with 6:05 until halftime.
Dartmouth's run extended to 17-1, as an Anton Strelnikov layup gave the Big Green a 28-20 lead with 3:19 remaining in the half.
The game of runs continued, as Columbia scored 11 straight points. The run was snapped by an Amundsen 3-pointer with 33 seconds remaining to even the score at 31 at the half.
SECOND HALF:Â
Tied at 33, Columbia scored five straight points, with its run reaching 15-4 to open its first double-figure lead of the game at 48-37 with 15:11 on the clock.
The Big Green got back within five on multiple occasions, including after a Mitchell-Day three pulled Dartmouth within 53-48.
With the Lions up 61-54, the Lions scored 10 straight points to take their largest lead at 71-54 with 7:04 left in regulation.
A Cameron Hiatt 3-pointer with 6:22 remaining pulled the Big Green within 14, starting a 15-1 Dartmouth run which included threes from Amundsen and Munro to pull within 72-63 with 3:35 still on the clock.
Four free throws, followed by a Mitchell-Day alley-oop layup after a Thomas steal, Â pulled the Big Green within 72-69 with 2:13 still remaining.
That's as close as they would come however, as a Noland layup sparked a 7-0 Columbia run to end the game, good for the 79-69 final.

Dartmouth shot 37.9% (22-of-58) from the floor, including 42.9% from 3-point range (12-of-28).Â
The Big Green hit double-figure threes for the second time in Ivy League play and 11th time this season.
Dartmouth hit more 3-pointers than 2-pointers for a third time this season, all coming at home (also vs. Appalachian State and Boston University).
Columbia finished at 42.1% (24-of-57) and 40.7% from behind the arc (11-of-27).
