HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Dartmouth volleyball team dropped the opening set but did not blink after that, storming back to beat the University at Albany, 3-1 (18-25, 25-12, 25-22, 27-25), on Friday, Sept. 11, at the Ellis Rowland Memorial Tournament at Cotterell Court. The win pushed the Big Green to 3-1 on the season.

Riley Imamura led the way for Dartmouth with her first carer double-double. Imamura complied a career-high 17 kills on a scorching .424 hitting percentage, adding a career-high 10 digs and three blocks for a team-high 19.5 points. Zori Brown was right there with her, piling up 14 kills to tie her career-high, along with a match and a career-high 16 digs for 17.5 points of her own, along with her second career double-double. Sophia Gagnepain ran the Big Green offense to the tune of 28 assists, and Elle McCreery anchored the middle with six kills and a team-high six blocks. Off the bench, Maddie LaFata added eight kills and Raeli Smith chipped in five kills and two block assists in a reserve role.

For the match, Dartmouth out-hit UAlbany .292 to .188, out-blocked the Great Danes 12-6 and out-aced them 10-7, wearing down a UAlbany team that piled up 22 attack errors of its own.

UAlbany came out of the gate hot in the first set, riding a hot stretch to build separation early and close it out, 25-18.

Dartmouth had a response ready in the second. Sloan Balsley's serve sparked a lengthy run that the Great Danes simply couldn't answer, with UAlbany hitting into the negatives (-.190) as errors piled up. The Big Green cruised to a 25-12 win to even the match at a set apiece.

The third set was a battle from the first point, with the two teams trading points deep into the frame. Dartmouth finally pulled away in the closing stretch as Brown strung together back-to-back kills and a service ace, and the Big Green closed out a 25-22 win to grab a 2-1 match lead.

Set four was the wildest of the night. Dartmouth and UAlbany went blow for blow all the way into the twenties, the set alone produced 16 ties and seven lead changes, before the Big Green finally pulled away for good. With the set knotted at 25-25, Dartmouth scored the final two points, closing it out at 27-25 when an Imamura serve forced an attack error from UAlbany off a block from McCreery and Brown.
