HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth volleyball team took Binghamton the distance in the opening match of the Dartmouth Invitational, but the Bearcats pulled away late in a tight fourth set to escape Leede Arena with a 3-1 win (25-16, 24-26, 25-14, 27-25) on Friday, Sept. 18, at Leede Arena.
Zori Brown led the way for the Big Green with her fourth double-double of the season with a career and match-high 19 kills, and 12 digs. Riley Imamura was right there with her, compiling her second double-double of 2026 with 17 kills and a career-high 15 digs. Elle McCreery hit an efficient .478 on her way to a career-high 13 kills to go with four blocks and a pair of aces for 17.0 points. Jaida Cekic filled the stat sheet with 11 kills and nine digs, and Sophia Gagnepain ran the offense with 28 assists. Dartmouth also got a lift off the bench from Raeli Smith, and Sloan Balsley chipped in nine digs and two aces from the back row.
Binghamton set the tone early in the first set, using a mid-set burst to build a comfortable cushion and cruising to a 25-16 win.
The Big Green answered right back in the second, trading points with the Bearcats deep into the frame. Dartmouth built a cushion behind kills from Brown and Imamura, and after Binghamton clawed back to tie it at 24-24, back-to-back kills from Imamura off sets from Gagnepain closed it out, 26-24, to even the match at a set apiece.
Binghamton had the answer in the third, jumping out early and never letting Dartmouth breathe on the way to a 25-14 win that put the Bearcats back in control, 2-1.
The fourth set was the story of the match. Dartmouth and Binghamton traded the lead all the way down the stretch, 19 ties and 10 lead changes in all, with the Big Green holding a 24-25 edge in the closing points. The Bearcats scored three of the final four to snatch the set, and the match, 27-25.
