EISA Women’s Nordic Skier of the Week (Feb. 28, 2018)
JUNIOR (2018): USCSCA National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team ... All-East Second Team … seventh-ranked women’s Nordic skier in the East … finished in the top 10 in nine of her 10 carnival races and top five seven times … grabbed her first spot on the podium in an individual race at Williams with a third-place finish in the 3K Freestyle Prologue … placed fourth in previous five races before breaking through at Williams … chosen as the EISA Women’s Nordic Skier of the Week after her performance at the East Regional where the finished sixth in the 5K classic and seventh in the 15K freestyle.
SOPHOMORE (2017): USCSCA National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team ... All-East Second Team … sixth-ranked women’s Nordic skier in the East … finished in the top 10 in 11 of her 12 carnival races … posted two stops on the podium in the two relay races … top individual finish was fifth in both the St. Lawrence and New Hampshire freestyle races.
FRESHMAN (2016): Competed in four of the carnivals as a rookie ... top finish came in the classic sprint at Bates to start the season, placing sixth overall ... just missed out on the top 10 in the 15K Classic at Colby, taking 11th in 52:13.7 ... finished in the top 20 in three other races as well.
BEFORE DARTMOUTH: Three-time letter-winner in cross country running and four-time letter-winner in Nordic skiing at Robert Service High School … served as the captain for the Nordic skiing team her junior season … during her senior Nordic skiing season, she individually placed first at the Besh Cup Race Series and second at the ASAA XC Ski Championships … named all-state as a junior and senior, and All-American her sophomore and senior seasons of Nordic skiing.
PERSONAL: Taryn is the daughter of Tom Hunt and Sharon Smith … has one brother … her mother, Sharon, was on the dive team for two years (’77 and ’78) at Dartmouth before transferring to Stanford and her father, Tom, was on the crew team at Stanford … enjoys camping and climbing.
