SENIOR (2022)
Tri-captain was listed as a semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy, known as the academic Heisman, as well as the Walter Payton Award Preseason Watch List … chosen by his teammates as the Frank Hershey Award winner for his genuine zest for life, a strong, upbeat attitude and a sincere desire to win because of his dedication and love for the game, his team and Dartmouth College … ranked fourth in the Ivy League in rushing touchdowns (9) and sixth in rushing yards per game (63.3) … also led the Big Green with 506 rushing yards while completing 59.1 percent of his passes (65-for-110) for 730 yards and two scores … ran for two touchdowns in each of the first three games … hit on 8-of-10 throws in the season opener against Valpraiso for 85 yards in leading the Green to a 35-13 victory … busted loose for a career-high 186 yards on the ground and two touchdowns at Sacred Heart while throwing for another score and 120 more yards, giving him a personal-best 306 total yards … topped the century mark again the following week against Penn, racking up 108 rushing yards on 24 carries … sidelined for the showdown with eventual Ivy champion Yale due to an injury before returning in a limited capacity against New Hampshire … barreled through to the end zone on a 1-yard burst against Harvard … took to the air at Cornell, completing 19-of-33 passes for a career-high 213 yards and one touchdown … closed out the season by leading Dartmouth to a 30-7 win over Brown, running for 56 yards and two touchdowns while completing 6-of-8 tosses for 101 yards.
JUNIOR (2021)
Earned a spot on the All-Ivy League First Team at quarterback and Phil Steele All-Ivy Fourth Team as the conference’s third-leading rusher and ranking sixth nationally in rushing touchdowns (15), which tied a school record that had stood for over 90 years … recipient of the team’s Jake Crouthamel Award as the offensive underclassman who contributed most to the success of the team … led the Big Green in rushing with 787 yards at a league-best 6.3 yards per carry, the third-highest average in program history and 14th nationally … also ranked ninth in the FCS in scoring (9.0 points per game), leading the league … only nine players in the FCS scored more than his 15 total touchdowns … had a modest season debut at Valparaiso, rushing for 55 yards on 10 carries while completing all three throws for 31 yards … exploded the following week for 154 yards on the ground on a mere nine attempts with touchdown runs of 53 and 39 yards in the second half to put the game out of reach in the 41-3 shellacking of Sacred Heart … earned Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week and DartmouthSports.com Male Athlete of the Week honors along with honorable mention from Stats Perform for its FCS Offensive Player of the Week … ran for two more scores while topping 100 rushing yards again (101) in the Ivy League opener to help Dartmouth defeat Penn on the road, 31-7 … limited to 43 yards on 11 carries against Yale, but reached the end zone two more times, including the game-winning score in overtime to beat the Bulldogs, 24-17 … extended his streak of multiple touchdown runs to four games with a trio of 6-yard scores at No. 23 New Hampshire in the 38-21 triumph over the Wildcats … also went 3-for-4 throwing the ball for 16 yards … threw his first career touchdown pass at 21st-ranked Harvard, a 31-yard strike over the middle, to help the Green nip the Crimson, 20-17 … ran for a career-high 172 yards on only 13 carries, four of which led to the end zone on runs of 2, 5, 20 and 32 yards, in a 41-7 victory over Cornell, earning Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week honors again … ended the season with two final scoring scampers, including the first of the game, as Dartmouth clinched the Ivy League title in a 52-31 win at Brown.
SOPHOMORE (2020)
Season canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic.
FRESHMAN (2019)
Spent most of the season with the junior varsity before being thrust into action in the home finale against Cornell … first carry went for 11 yards and he finished the game with 19 yards on four carries … dominated in the lone jayvee game, piling up 141 yards on 21 carries with a pair of touchdowns, not to mention 23 yards on a pair of receptions and completing a 45-yard pass.
HIGH SCHOOL
All-conference first team as a quarterback and second team as a linebacker … led conference last fall with 2,004 yards passing and finished second with 15 touchdowns through the air despite missing one game … fourth in conference with 636 yards rushing (6.6 yards per rush) and 10 touchdowns on the ground … topped 300 passing yards in each of first three games as a senior … topped 5,000 yards and 40 touchdowns passing in his high school career and almost 2,000 yards rushing while averaging 5.8 yards … also played basketball and threw the shot in track as well.

Full name is Nicholas Christopher Howard … born on April 17, 2001 in St. George, Utah … only child of Chris and Mimi Howard … father played four years of football at Wisconsin-Stevens Point … uncle, John Hugus, is a member of the Dartmouth Class of ’78 … enjoys skiing, hunting and fishing … originally committed to South Dakota and was headed to Cornell to play linebacker before deciding on Dartmouth.
