Richie Santry begins his first season as Dartmouth heavyweight rowing assistant coach in 2022-23. Santry graduated from Dartmouth in June of 2022 as a double major in Government and Environmental Studies.
“After rowing for Dartmouth for four years and working with Wyatt and John (Graves) as an athlete, I couldn’t be more excited to rejoin the team as a coach,” said Santry. “The team has continued to perform and develop since my time started here in 2018, and I’m eager to see what we can accomplish this year. Rowing at Dartmouth was the most important part of my Dartmouth career, so I’m happy to be able to stick with and help the team moving into the next season in any way I can.”
As a rower, Santry was awarded the Dr. Robert G. Fisher Award presented to the freshman rower who promoted the highest ideals of rowing. He was named an IRCA Scholar-Athlete in 2021 and 2022, and named to the IRA All-Academic team those two years as well. At IRAs in 2021, Santry took home a bronze medal as a member of the Third Varsity Eight.
“Richie was absolutely integral, both as an athlete and leader, to the growth and improvement of our program in his four years,” said head coach Wyatt Allen. “I am looking forward to him bringing the same qualities that enabled his success as a student-athlete – his capacity for hard work, strong personal integrity and passion for the sport and our program – to the assistant coach role and our staff. We are lucky to have him aboard.”
