Having joined the Big Green in 2006, Jesup Szatkowski enters his sixth season as a member of the Dartmouth coaching staff.
Since his arrival at Dartmouth, the Big Green's young talent has shown that a bright future is on the horizon with athletes setting 53 new varsity team records.
Szatkowski has also been instrumental in the rise of both the men's and women's teams. In 2011-12 Verser helped the Dartmouth men's squad to its first top-five finish at the Ivy League Championship since 1981 and also helped the women to a fifth-place finish as well.
In 2010-11, he helped the women and men to eight new records each, as well as 79 new all-time top ten performances. Primarily coaching the Dartmouth sprinters in freestyle and butterfly events, Szatkowski has coached athletes to league finalist finishes in each of his four seasons, including Hillary Preston, the 2009 Ivy League champion in the 50 freestyle. He also oversees the Big Green recruiting efforts for the women's team, once again welcoming one of the best classes in program history this fall.
Szatkowski came to Dartmouth from Vassar College where he filled a variety of roles including assistant coach of men's and women's swimming and diving, head coach/founder of the men's and women's club water polo teams and aquatic director. During his three seasons at Vassar, Szatkowski assisted in the rapid increase in squad size and strength of the swimming program, coaching division-three All-Americans and two conference champion sprinters.
A 2000 graduate of Washington & Lee University, where he was an all-conference swimmer, Szatkowski earned a master's degree from the University of New Hampshire in 2003, serving as assistant coach for the Wildcats in 2002-03. Szatkowski has worked numerous swim camps, including those at the University of Georgia, New Hampshire, Colgate, and Dartmouth, and has also coached at the club and high school levels at the Rye Beach Club (Rye, NH.), Rockbridge Area Team Swimming (Lexington, Va.), and Rockbridge County High School (Lexington, Va.).
Jesup and his wife Megan (UNH '03), live in Lebanon, NH with their daughter Kellyn.
