Q & A with Benjamin Vihstadt

Why Dartmouth?

I wanted a small liberal-arts type school in the north, and Dartmouth met that criteria. The recent successes from the lightweight crew team didn't hurt either.

How long have you been rowing and what interested you about rowing?

I've been rowing since my freshman year in high school. I originally started rowing as a way to get in shape for football and basketball. My sophomore year I ended up quitting my school's football and basketball team to pursue crew year round.

Have you won any awards?

I received my school's "Most Outstanding Rower" in 2010, and was named to The Washington Post's All-Metropoliton 1st Team for rowing in 2012. In 2011, I got 1st in the Youth 4+ and 2nd in the Youth 8+ at the USRowing Club National Championships.

Something interesting about yourself?

Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee is my favorite variety of coffee. Also, I have never had a Big Mac.
