Rebecca McElvain '19 was hired as an assistant coach, returning to her alma mater for the 2020-21 season. McElvain served as an assistant coach through the 2024-25 season and was elevated to interim head coach ahead of the 2025-26 season.
In her first season at the helm, the Big Green continued their success. Dartmouth finished fourth at the ICSA Open Team Race Nationals, its first top-four appearance since 2019. Additionally, the Big Green took home multiple major awards as Bella Casaretto was named NEISA's Women's Skipper of the Year, Lilly Baker took home NEISA's Babineau Crew of the Year award, the first time Dartmouth has won the award since 2007, and McElvain earned two coach of the year honors. The first-year head coach earned the NEISA's Coach of the Year honor, Dartmouth's first time winning since 2014, and was named the Ivy League's Co-Coaching Staff of the Year alongside assistant coach Zoe Hoctor, the Big Green's first Ivy League recognition in program history.Â
McElvain led the Big Green as captain as a senior and was named an All-American Crew in each of her last two seasons while receiving honorable mention as a freshman. She was also All-NEISA Crew First Team in 2018 and Second Team in both 2016 and 2017, her first two seasons with the Big Green. Prior to Dartmouth, she was a seven-time national champion at the high school level in various types of boats and was named the 2015 San Diego Area Yacht Clubs Woman Sailor of the Year. She has also served as a sailing instructor at the San Diego Yacht Club off and on since 2014.
