Dartmouth Athletics proudly announces the hiring of Mallory Poole as Associate Athletics Director for Sports Administration, a newly created role designed to further enhance the level of administrative support to our coaches and varsity programs. After a national search, Poole emerged as the perfect addition to help guide Dartmouth's sport administration team into a new era of success and innovation.
“During our national search, Mallory stood out from an exceptional group of finalists through her appreciation for Dartmouth’s distinctions, thoughtful approach to leadership, proven ability to navigate complex challenges with compassion and her clear vision for developing competitive programs,” said Mike Harrity, Haldeman Family Director of Athletics and Recreation. “We are thrilled to welcome Mallory back to Hanover and know she’ll make an immediate and lasting impact.”
Poole brings to Dartmouth an exceptional blend of experience and passion. She has honed her leadership skills through various impactful roles in collegiate athletics, including as an assistant coach for Dartmouth women’s lacrosse during the 2008-09 season and most recently at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). There, she served as the Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Wellness and Development and Senior Woman Administrator, where she played a crucial role on the executive leadership team. Her achievements included overseeing key wellness initiatives, stewarding significant endowments to advance women’s sports and crafting leadership and career development programs to prepare student-athletes for life beyond college sports. Her background also encompasses a strong emphasis on fostering inclusive environments, having chaired diversity equity, and inclusion efforts that left a lasting impact on department culture.
"Starting my professional journey with Dartmouth as a young lacrosse coach, and now returning at this stage in my career, is both meaningful and rewarding,” said Poole. “It became clear early on in my conversations that there is great momentum building in Hanover. The direction that Mike Harrity has been leading the department is refreshing, and I am honored to have the opportunity to contribute to the team's efforts.
As I have moved through my career, I have come to appreciate more and more what it means to work alongside quality people and how critical it is to have a strong alignment of values and leadership philosophies. I am grateful to have been connected to (Senior Deputy Athletics Director) Kristine Fowler over the years and then through this process, to have met Taurian Houston and several others in the department, all of whom are committed to providing an elite student experience at Dartmouth. I look forward to building upon the culture of excellence that is already in place as I strive to support our student-athletes and coaches in achieving their academic, athletic, and personal aspirations at the highest level. Dartmouth College is a special place with special people and I am energized and inspired to rejoin the staff."
As the Associate Athletics Director for Sports Administration at Dartmouth, Poole will offer strategic oversight and daily support to head coaches and the sport administration team, collaborating with the Athletics and Recreation Leadership Team to develop and implement innovative resources that enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of managing sport programs. By helping create a framework for professional development and streamlining sport administration processes, she aims to empower coaches and administrators alike. Poole will also directly supervise a portfolio of sports, working closely with head coaches to foster a culture of continuous improvement and competitiveness.
“This new role of Associate Athletics Director for Sports Administration is crucial in shaping the future of our athletic programs,” said Taurian Houston, Executive Associate Athletics Director for Administration. “Mallory’s collaborative leadership style and commitment to excellence will ensure that our sport administrators and coaches are equipped to provide the best possible experience for our student-athletes. Her vision and strategic thinking align perfectly with our department’s goals and priorities.”
Dartmouth Athletics remains committed to supporting and developing student-athletes in a comprehensive and inclusive environment. Poole’s addition signifies a strengthened commitment to this mission, and her strategic guidance is anticipated to drive the department to even greater heights.
