Tina Kampa joined the Dartmouth women's hockey staff as the team's director of operations in August of 2022.
“We are excited to have Tina join our staff,” head coach Liz Keady Norton said. “Her passion and energy for the game of hockey is contagious. Tina brings a wealth of experience as a player and coach, and I feel fortunate to have her in Hanover.”
Kampa comes to Hanover following a stint as an assistant coach at Hamline University. She joined the coaching staff for the 2021-22 season and helped lead the Division III program to an appearance in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Tournament finals.
The Maple Grove, Minnesota native played for Bemidji State from 2017-21. Kampa was named a Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) All-Academic team member three times and served as an assistant captain during the 2020-21 season.
Kampa was a tenacious player for the Beavers during her collegiate career, amassing 306 blocked shots in four seasons, which ranks fourth all-time in conference history. She led her team in the category twice and recorded 100 blocked shots in 37 games during the 2019-20 season.
During her time at Bemidji State, Kampa served as a College Hockey for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion representative for the WCHA starting in 2020. She used this position to help launch and participate in initiatives to grow the game of hockey and was active in creating cultural change in the sport.
In 2021, Kampa founded Minnesota Unbounded, a non-profit organization that cultivates a positive experience for players of color in hockey. Serving as the organization’s president, director of operations and director of player development, she organized all activities for the program during its summer program.
Kampa has gathered experience in many realms in hockey, as she has held positions with a variety of organizations. She worked as an instructor for OS Hockey, working under Winny Brodt-Brown, a two-time member of Team USA at the IIHF World Women’s Championship. She also has served as an instructor at her alma mater, Maple Grove High School.
“I’m really excited for this season and to work with this team,” Kampa said. “I think this is going to be a great environment and somewhere that I will learn a lot of different things. Liz has built a great staff, and I’m excited to contribute to the culture of the program and assist this coaching staff in any way that I can.”
Kampa graduated from Bemidji State University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2021.
