I chose Dartmouth because it was the perfect mix of both school and crew for me. In terms of crew, I liked the idea of being a part of a building team with a lot of potential. In terms of school, I loved the small, close-knit atmosphere and the focus on undergraduate education and I really wanted to be able to know my professors on a personal level. These various aspects of the school made Dartmouth the perfect choice for me.
How long have you been rowing and what got you interested in rowing?
I have been rowing since my freshman year in high school. The summer before my freshman year, my friend from middle school called me to ask if I wanted to try rowing with her and I agreed...not really realizing what I was getting myself into but I never looked back. Crew played a huge role in my life all through high school and I couldn't imagine my life without it so I decided to continue rowing through college.
Have you won any academic or rowing awards recently?
Edwin E. Lickiss Memorial Award for scholarship, leadership, and dedication to the Oakland Strokes
Tell me something interesting about you that might come as a surprise to your teammates.
This past summer, I biked across the country (from Providence, R.I. to Seattle, Wash.) to raise money and awareness for affordable housing.
What are your future plans, if any?
I would like to go to medical school after college and I hope to work with Doctors without Borders at some point in the future.
