CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Behind a triple-double from Katie Hirsch (Austin, Texas) and a match-high 15 kills and 16 digs from Sarah Nadler (Santa Clara, Calif.), the Dartmouth women's volleyball team defeated Harvard this evening for the second time in less than a week. Win the 3-0 win Dartmouth now has an eight-game win streak and improves to 8-3, 2-0 Ivy while Harvard falls to 2-8, 0-2.
Hirsch recorded 20 assists, 13 digs and 11 kills. Dartmouth outhit the Crimson, .254-.092, and held Harvard to .000 hitting on 11 kills and 11 errors in the first game. Jess Thomas (Tampa, Fla.) also contributed a double-double for the Big Green, with 11 kills and 11 digs, while Elise Krieger (Encinitas, Calif.) provided a match-high 22 assists.
The Big Green took control of the opening game early, going up 11-5, only to see Harvard bounce back with six straight points on Lauren Mays' serve to take a one-point edge. Dartmouth soon regained the lead, but the Crimson kept within striking distance until the visitors took the final four points for a six-point, 30-24 win.
Game 2 was close as late as 21-18, but Dartmouth claimed the game with nine of the last 11 points. The Big Green hit .314 with 22 kills in the game, winning 30-20. In the third contest, Dartmouth answered a 5-0 Harvard run to go up 15-14 with seven consecutive points for a 21-15 edge and kept the Crimson three or more points back the rest of the way earning a 30-23 victory.
