Dartmouth Men's Lacrosse Announces 2007 Schedule
HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men's lacrosse team has announced its 2007 schedule. The Big Green will play host to five teams on Scully-Fahey Field in March, Cornell in April and wrap the season up in May with Harvard.
The season begins with a pair of scrimmages in New York against Siena and Binghamton. A scrimmage at home against UMass kicks off a road trip to Duke and UNC. The Duke game will be shown live on ESPNU at 2:00 on February 24. Seven of the fifteen teams on Dartmouth's schedule were ranked in the top 20 in 2006. The Big Green will play two of the highest ranked teams, Virginia and Princeton, on the road in back to back games April 21 and 28.
Fairfield University comes to Scully-Fahey Field on March 3, a brief side trip to Albany on the 7th and then the Big Green pitches its tent in Hanover for games against Notre Dame, Vermont, Brown and Providence before heading to Penn in April.
Dartmouth hopes to break a ten game skid against the Big Red as Cornell comes to town on April 14. In a series that began in 1946, the Big Green held a 10-5 edge, however Cornell has dominated in recent years. A four game road trip to Yale, Virginia, Princeton and Holy Cross wraps up the road portion of the schedule.
Senior night in Hanover on May 5 features the 78th meeting between Harvard and Dartmouth. The Crimson lead the series 41-35-1. However, the Big Green has emerged victorious in the last four meetings, including a thrilling, 14-13, overtime win last season in Cambridge.
Dartmouth looks to capitalize on a strong returning squad and talented newcomers to improve on an 8-7 overall record in 2006.
