BRONX, N.Y. – The young Dartmouth women's cross country team finished 12th out of 37 schools at the NCAA Northeast Regionals today at Van Cortlandt Park. It was a familiar setting for the Big Green, who ran the Ivy Heps race there two weeks ago.
Boston College took first place with 82 points while Iona, whose Salmoe Kosgei won the race at 20:45.3, was just behind the Eagles for second at 82. Those squads will represent the region at the upcoming NCAA National meet.
Dartmouth's top finisher was junior Susan Dunklee (Baron, Vt.) who came in 39th with a time of 22:39.3. Sophomore Caitlin Cunningham (Simsbury, Conn.) finished 57th in 22:57.5, while a trio of freshmen rounded out Dartmouth's top-five. Blair Sullivan (Chester, N.J.) came in 69th in 23:16.4, Ali Smrcina (Falmouth, Mass) was 73rd in 23:20.5 and Zaritza Petrova (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was 80th in 23:30.0.
This concluded the 2006 slate for the Dartmouth women.
