HANOVER, N.H. -- The Dartmouth men's swimming and diving teams won its first meet of the season, defeating Maine on Sunday, 174-121.
Sophomore Kevin Ellis (Centennial, Colo.) was a triple winner, taking first place in the 50 and 100 freestyles as well as the 100 fly.
There were four Big Green double winners, including junior Andrew Berry (Middleton, Wis.) in the one-meter and three-meter dives. With his score of 335.17 on the one-meter board, Berry broke the Dartmouth record of 332.90 set by Toby Hays '99 during the 1998-99 season.
Sophomore Andrew Ballentine (Pendleton, Ind.) was first in the 200 and 1000 freestyles; junior Gordon Russell (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) won the 100 and 200 backstrokes; while senior Travis Tyler (Boulder City, Nev.) was tops in the 200 and 500 freestyles.
Now 1-2 on the season, Dartmouth is back in action on Friday, November 10, traveling to Colgate for a 4:30 p.m. meet.
