BURLINGTON, Vt. - The 18th ranked Dartmouth men's lacrosse team won its second game of the season today, thumping Vermont, 13-6, in the Catamounts first ever lacrosse game at Moulton Winder Field. Nick Bonacci (Crofton, Md.) led the Big Green by tallying five assists. With the win Dartmouth is now 2-0 on the season while Vermont falls to 1-1.
The Big Green led 5-4 heading into halftime but scored four unanswered goals to end the final stanza as the Green outscored the Catamounts, 8-2, in the last two periods of play.
Senior Alec Hufnagel (Scarsdale, N.Y.) had three goals, all on extra-man opportunities. Junior Luke Antal (Shaker Heights, Ohio) also scored three goals while Brian Koch (Rye, N.Y.), Tim Daniels (Duxbury, Mass.) and Brad Heritage (Cheshire, Conn.) had two. Ryan Danehy (N. Billerica, Mass.) had three assists while Jon Livadas (Wilmington, Del.) had one.
Daniels went 16-for-23 on face offs while collecting 36 ground balls to Vermont's 29.
Freshman goalie Patt Marshall (Lutherville, Md.) was stellar in the cage, making 18 saves, including six in the third period.
Up next for the Big Green is a trip to the Fairfield University on Saturday, March 4. Game time is 2:00 pm.
