COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Dartmouth men's lacrosse team suffered a 14-2 loss to No. 4 Maryland on Tuesday as Terrapin All-America Joe Walters scored four goals.
The two-time defending ACC champ, Maryland raced out to a 13-0 lead before Big Green senior Brad Heritage (Cheshire, Conn.) scored off a feed from senior Jamie Coffin (Greenwich, Conn.) with 6:28 left in the fourth quarter.
With 3:55 left in the game, Brian Koch (Rye, N.Y.) kept his offensive streak alive. The Dartmouth freshman has scored at least one goal in all six games this year.
The Big Green won its first three games of the season before losing the next three for a 3-3 record.
For Maryland, now 5-1, Walters added three assists to his line. Xander Ritz had three goals and two assists.
In the nets, Dartmouth freshman Pat Marshall (Lutherville, Md.) made 11 saves while playing 53:32. Senior Andrew Mayer (Hingham, Mass.) had one save in relief.
Maryland outshot the Big Green, 41-17.
Dartmouth has its home opener on Monday, March 27, hosting Albany at 1 pm at Scully-Fahey Field.
