NEW YORK - In its Ivy opener on Friday afternoon, the Dartmouth men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Columbia at the Richard Savitt Tennis Center. The Big Green falls to 8-10 overall and 0-1 in the Ivy League, while the Lions improve to 11-2 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.
Columbia opened the match by sweeping all three doubles matches to take the doubles point.
In singles, the Big Green got a win from freshman Ari Gayer (Hollis, N.Y.) at No. 3. He defeated the Lions' Marty Moore, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
Dartmouth will return to action on Saturday, April 8, when it travels to Ithaca, N.Y., to take on Ivy foe Cornell.
