BOSTON, Mass. - Senior
Harry Norton (N. Reading, Mass.) finished 17th in a field of 230 runners, leading the Dartmouth men's cross country team to sixth place at the NCAA District I qualifier at Franklin Park on Saturday.
In the 10k race, Norton posted a time of 30:23, and junior
Glenn Randall (Collbran, Colo.) was 21st in 30:29. As a team, Dartmouth earned 197 points while the top spot went to perennial powerhouse Iona with 37.
Providence was second with 46, followed by Syracuse (132), Brown (188), Cornell (193) and Dartmouth. Harvard was seventh among the 37 schools with 201.
"It was, by far, the men's best team performance of the season," said Dartmouth coach
Barry Harwick. "We beat two of the Ivies (Harvard, Columbia) who beat us two weeks ago at Heps."
Dartmouth's top five was rounded out by sophomore
Kevin Treadway (Niskayuna, N.Y.), 49th in 31:11; senior
Grant Allen (Sugar Grove, Pa.), 53rd in 31:12.2; and junior
Oliver Townsend (Signal Mountain, Tenn.), 60th in 31:22.55.
